A ship-builder from the nearby island of Symi built this traditional sailing boat in 1969 in Rhodos town. In 1974 the great sailor & sailing pioneer for tourist trips on Rhodos island, Steve Savvakis, was setting sails, after having made some changes to the boat. He was calling the boat Vikings, as many of the first guests enjoying trips with him where from Scandinavia.
After more than 40 years of sailing tours along the Rhodian coast and to other islands in the Aegean with uncountable of guests and repeater guests, many of whom became friends with Steve, he unfortunately left us much too early in 2016 after having had a fulfilled life.
